Affiliates

Through relationships with the groups listed below, we learn and share information about cultural issues and concerns. This networking helps us to maximize our advocacy efforts and ensure the arts and culture sector participates in discussions about our city and region:

Assembly of British Columbia Arts Councils (ABCAC)
The Assembly of British Columbia Arts Councils works to define and advance community cultural development through arts councils and other community-based organizations and individuals.
Canada Council for the Arts
The Canada Council for the Arts is a national, arm’s-length agency, which fosters and promotes the study, enjoyment of, and production of works in, the arts. The Council offers a broad range of grants and services to professional Canadian artists and arts organizations.
Canadian Conference of the Arts (CCA)
The Canadian Conference of the Arts (CCA) is Canada’s oldest and largest arts advocacy group. The CCA lobbies government and monitors developments on the political and legislative front, plus works to generate public awareness of artists’ and cultural workers’ concerns.
Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC)
The Cultural Human Resources Council brings together all the sub-sectors of the arts to address the training and career development needs of cultural workers.
Downtown Vancouver Association (DVA)
The Downtown Vancouver Association (DVA) is a membership-driven association. DVA members are interested in civic matters and specific concerns regarding the expanding downtown.
International Network for Cultural Diversity (INCD)
The International Network for Cultural Diversity (INCD) is a worldwide network of artists and cultural groups dedicated to countering the homogenizing effects of globalization on culture.
Vancouver Community Network
The Vancouver Community Network (VCN) is a nonprofit Internet service provider. VCN also works with community groups to help them use information and communication technologies to better meet their goals.
Vancouver Public Library, Fine Arts and Music Division
The Fine Arts and Music Division of the Vancouver Public Library is the largest general arts library in British Columbia. The collection provides a broad range of print and audiovisual material, an extensive music collection, subject clipping files, and various special indices.
Vancouver 2010 Bid Corporation
The Vancouver 2010 Bid Corporation formed in 1999 to prepare a bid for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and Winter Paralympic Games. Member partners include the Government of Canada, the Province of British Columbia, the City of Vancouver, the Resort Municipality of Whistler and the Canadian Olympic Committee.
