The Arts Fête is an annual gathering of the Alliance's members, staff and board, celebrating the contributions of the arts and culture community.
BC Cultural Roundtable
Reflecting the Alliance's expanded provincial mandate, the interconnectedness of the arts, cultural, and heritage communities, and the development of our Cultural Roundtable Network, BC Cultural Roundtable is the new identity for what was formerly known as our annual Arts Summit.
Our conferences bring together members of BC's creative community and create opportunities for dialogue, networking and professional development. Learn more on our Conferences page.
Three days at the end of each September are dedicated to nation-wide initiatives that raise the awareness, accessibility, participation, and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Hundreds of thousands of artists, cultural workers, organizations and groups, volunteers, and supporters self-mobilize to host free participatory public events that take place in cities and towns across the country.
British Columbia’s Culture Days Task Force is facilitated through the Society to Bridge Arts and Community, and the BC Culture Days coordinator operates out of the Alliance office. MAYOR'S ARTS AWARDS
The City of Vancouver's Mayor’s Arts Awards recognize established and emerging artists in a wide array of disciplines that make up our creative sector – from literary and culinary arts to visual and performing arts, as well as five unique awards for contributions to the City of Vancouver.
Artist Honourees, Emerging Artists, and Lifetime Achievement recipients receive a cash award. Special non-cash awards are made for contributions through Volunteerism, Philanthropy, Business Support, and the Arts Board Member of the Year.
Each Artist Honouree is asked to select an Emerging Artist in their discipline who represents the promise of the next generation.
The Mayor's Arts Awards juries are convened by the Alliance. Honourees in the arts categories are chosen each year by a jury of peers for having made a significant contribution to their respective disciplines and for showing leadership and support for Vancouver’s cultural community over the course of their careers. Honourees for Business Support, Philanthropy, and Volunteerism are chosen by juries consisting of business and cultural community members active in those fields.
The Arts Board Member of the Year Award is an initiative of the Society to Bridge Arts and Community. The Society's board of directors establishes juries who select this category's honouree, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award honouree.
The selection in each award category is made from nominations by individual jurors and solicited from the community at large.
