Call for Artists Description: 

Deer Lake Gallery is inviting applications from artists for exhibitions in all media for 2017. Deadline for applications is Friday, September 30, 2016.

The 2017 Call is open to everyone. Professionals as well as emerging artists are encouraged to enter. The only limitation is that you must not have shown at our gallery in the last 2 years (in a solo exhibition) and that entries must represent original works of art. The Gallery reserves the right to decide which artists will be allotted solo shows, and which artists will share the space in a Group Exhibition. We encourage the inclusion of a community component in the form of workshops, demonstrations, artist talk or other community involvement strategies. There is no size restriction, other than what can fit through our doors or hang on our walls.

The juried selection committee, comprised of artists from the community and headed by the Deer Lake Gallery’s Executive Director, juries the submissions and artists are notified of the outcome in November.

Artists are NOT required to be a BAC member to submit an application. The Deer Lake Gallery is a program of the Burnaby Arts Council (BAC). It is policy of BAC that all Artists whose work is featured in the Gallery MUST be a current member member of the BAC, however you do not have to join or purchase a membership prior to submission for exhibition. If you are selected as an artist to exhibit THEN you must become a BAC member. The Annual Fee for an individual membership is $25.00 and non-refundable (valid Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2017).

SUBMISSION OF IMAGES
We accept only digital images/files for consideration. See specifications below. BAC will retain the submitted images of accepted artwork and reserves the right to use the images in publications and gallery publicity. Beyond such use, the artist retains fully copyright of exhibited work. Submission CD’s or flash drives will not be returned.

Digital Format: Digital images can be submitted on CD, flash drive or by email (send to: info@burnabyartscouncil.org)The email and online submission process is HIGHLY PREFERRED because it makes our process more efficient and saves postage and materials for the artists. Entry images must meet the following specifications:

FILE NAMING: All entry files (regardless of type or media) must be named with artist’s last name (underscore) first name, followed by the title of the artwork.

DO NOT submit links to jpeg files. Entry will not be accepted if sent in this format. (Google Docs, drop box or otherwise) Please attach images directly to email.

JURY FEE PAYMENT
Please complete the application form and pay the non-refundable $15.00 jury fee here. You can either use paypal or mail the application and payment to the BAC office.
