The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation provides funding to stimulate and invigorate non-profit organizations in the cultural and creative arts and the social services who serve communities throughout British Columbia. The Foundation typically funds new programs or projects that have a significant impact on the community served by the applicant. New variations or a different phase of an existing innovative program will be considered.
Additionally, students from British Columbia who wish to pursue their pre-professional studies in the performing and/or visual arts at institutions around the world can receive funding through The Leon and Thea Koerner Award in the Fine and Performing Arts.
To this end, the Foundation considers formal applications only in the following areas:
- Cultural and Creative Arts
- Social Services
In 2013 a total of 124 applications were received; 35 organizations across British Columbia were awarded grants of between $5,000 and $15,000 for a success rate of 28%. The median size of grant was $10,000. Click here for the recipient list.

In 2013 a total of 21 individuals applied for The Leon and Thea Koerner Award in the Fine and Performing Arts; 6 were awarded grants of between $7,000 and $10,000 for a success rate of 28%. The median size of grant was $8,750. Click here for the recipient list.
In 2014 The Foundation will award grants of between $5,000 and $15,000 to organizations; and between $5,000 and $10,000 to individuals.
The deadline for receipt of 2014 applications is Friday, 28 February 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
