New Director of Communications

The Alliance for Arts & Culture is thrilled to announce the appointment of Vancouver-born Kevin Dale McKeown to the position of Director of Communications. Kevin succeeds Peter Boychuk, who will be leaving the organization in August to pursue his MFA in Playwriting at the University of Victoria.

Kevin brings to his new post at the Alliance for Arts and Culture the experience of a 20-year career in cultural event marketing and communications, beginning with Vancouver's first Dragon Boat Festival in 1989 and including work with the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, the Vancouver International Children's Festival, the Vancouver International Writers Festival and numerous other cultural and social profit organizations and special events.

Venturing outside the cultural realm, Kevin served as media relations director for the Green Party of BC during the last provincial election. Prior to 1989 Kevin was, for many years, a journalist, columnist and editor, contributing to the pages of The Georgia Straight, the Vancouver Courier, the WestEnder, the Williams Lake Tribune, Victoria Today, and New Westminster's former daily newspaper, The Columbian.

"I am delighted to have been invited to join the team at the Alliance," said Kevin, "and I look forward to making a contribution to the many exciting projects and initiatives under way and yet to come."

“We are very excited about having Kevin on board,” said Amir Ali Alibhai, the Alliance for Arts & Culture’s Executive Director. “He is well-liked and well-respected among the artistic community, and brings a wealth of experience and a wide network of contacts to the job.”

Kevin will begin his new appointment on August 21, 2008.
