Headlines Theatre's David Diamond is on his way to Senegal, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Cape Verde with Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean and eight other Canadian delegates. The delegates represent a variety of sectors, including governance, arts and culture, civil society, women's rights, youth engagement and trade.
The purpose of the trip, from April 14 – 24, is to highlight the benefits of Canada's long-standing relationship with the four countries, placing particular emphasis on social and cultural issues. This will be an opportunity to increase relations between Canadians and civil society in the host countries.
David is very pleased to be facilitating discussions and also (pending final confirmation) offering a Theatre for Living workshop in Kigali, Rwanda.
State visits by a Governor General play an important role in Canada’s relations with other countries. They are the highest level of diplomatic contact, and they mark developments in bilateral relations and exchanges among peoples.
