The Symposium for Performing Arts in Rural Communities (SPARC) will bring together rural creators, producers, presenters and animateurs to discuss the business of performing arts and place-based culture, in particular in rural communities.
The symposium, taking place April 24-27, 2014, in Halliburton Highlands, Ontario, will feature over 35 informative workshops and three throught-provoking plenary keynotes. A preliminary program is now available online:sparcperformingarts.com/symposium/program-at-a-glance/
Key symposium issues include:
- What is the economic and social role of the performing arts in rural communities?
- How do you engage your community in creating, producing and presenting the performing arts?
- How do you celebrate and share place-based culture more broadly?
