Volunteer Suspected of Stealing $12,000 from Vancouver Festivals

A volunteer is suspected of stealing more than $12,000 from two summer festivals.

The suspect, described as a heavy-set woman in her thirties with dark, wavy hair, volunteered during the Pride Parade and had access to the funds of the Vancouver Pride Society. Over $9,000 went missing on August 3, the day after the parade.

The same woman is believed to have volunteered for the Vancouver Taiwanese Festival on Sept. 3, when $3,000 went missing from a volunteer tent.

Vancouver police believe the same woman is involved in both thefts. The suspect may have provided a false name and police are requesting the public's help in identifying the woman.
