MARKET MONDAYS AT THE MUSEUM
(Victoria Day, BC Day and Labour Day)
6501 Deer Lake Ave., Burnaby, BC
FARMERS AND ARTISAN MARKET OPPORTUNITY AT THE BURNABY VILLAGE MUSEUM:
Period-costumed townsfolk welcome visitors as they stroll down the streets of a 1920’s village exploring the heritage and replica buildings on this 10 acre site. Demonstrations take place in many of the homes, businesses and shops including the blacksmith, the print shop, the farmhouse garden and the general store. The Burnaby Village Museum welcomes approximately 2,000 visitors each day on a summer weekend and greeted over 5,000 visitors on Victoria Day last year. You can count on a good audience at the market!
Victoria Day at Burnaby Village Museum
On May 21st, join us for the pomp, ceremony and fun of Queen Victoria’s 193rd birthday. A giant birthday cake will be served and the Queen, who looks remarkably young for her age, will make a rousing speech to her loyal subjects. The Tiddley Cove Morris dancers will delight, while the Metropolitan Concert Band plays on with a wide variety of music from classics, to marches to movie themes and of course the British National anthem. A traditional bag piper will lead a colourful parade through the village, while thousands cheer our noble queen.
The Burnaby Village Museum heritage exhibits will be free of charge during the summer and market vendors are invited to be part of this very popular destination on 3 holiday Mondays. Our commitment is to provide a good selection of vendors that may include handmade craft items or artisan food products. Images of products to be sold must accompany your application (either electronic or hard copy photos). Vendors will be selected through a jury process and primary consideration will be given to those who feature unique products and handmade items.
