The North Vancouver Community Arts Council is seeking artists for a themed exhibition called “Man’s Best Friend”

 April 29 – May 28, 2011 at CityScape Community Art Space 

 It has become evident that the pursuit of peaceful coexistence is paramount with one another and with the creatures that live amongst us. The time is long overdue to achieve a harmonious balance in the interest of saving our planet.  Embracing the ideals of cohabitation, rather than the need to dominate and control, will be examined in this exhibition.

We invite artists to create artwork that captures the ideal of peaceful cohabitation amongst creatures and the human species. Through contrasting, positive imagery, this exhibition intends to present humankind living in harmony with creatures that might otherwise be thought of as a threat, a product, an impingement, or seemingly irrelevant to existence.

The work should emphasize how, no matter how great the external differences, a balance can always be found.  The aim of this exhibition is to be ultimately inclusive despite enormous amounts of versatility and diversity amongst the creatures in the natural world.
