Vancouver Community College RFP for Aboriginal Art

Mary Bennett

Mixed-Media Nest with dictionary pages, eggs and words

I'm a mixed-media artist and community catalyst.

Recently I worked for the Community Arts Council of Vancouver for four years initiating programs for the three priorities established by the board: voice for community arts; be a leader in environmental arts and support arts and culture in the downtown eastside.

Before that I worked from 2000-2008 as executive director of the Canadian Unitarian Council, a national non-profit where I was responsible for volunteer engagement and our annual conference - attendance 850 at its peak.

Jenny Lewis - Art Life Insights

As a visual artist I am driven by a sense of wonder, growth and endless possibilities, my desire is to express balance in my work that reflects the search for balance in life under ever changing circumstances. Life is a series of happenings, actions and reactions, perspectives, innate pushes and pulls- a true journey. I strive to echo this journey in my work. My pieces are open to interpretation, as each individual reacts and reflects on their personal journey.
