- Representatives of the cultural community meet with Minister Kevin Kreuger in
Vancouver

- The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services meets in Kamloops
at the South Thompson Inn & Conference Centre from 9 am to 12 noon.

- The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services meets in Kelowna
at the Best Western Inn from 4 pm to 8 pm.

October 16, 2009

- The Select Standing Committee on Finance meets in Surrey to hear community
representations. Alliance for Arts and Culture executive director Amir Ali Alibhai will be
speaking at 1 pm.

October 21, 2009

- Three new videoconferencing sessions have just been added.

The Select Standing Committee on Finance meets in Nelson, Prince Rupert, and Nanaimo to hear community representations.  These sessions were announced today (Oct. 14).

October 23, 2009

- Deadline for written, audio, video and online survey submissions to the Standing
Committee on Finance (see details below).

October 28, 2009

- The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services begins drafting its
final report to the Finance Minister. Their deliberations will take place October 28 and
November 4, 6 and 9 at the Douglas Fir Committee Room 226 at the Parliament
Buildings. These deliberations are “in camera” and closed to the public.

- The Grey Relay - day-long action.  The organizers need: people to form grey squares; volunteers to hand out leaflets; volunteers for communication and organization tasks.  This is not a protest. This is about art and artists taking their space.  Follow link to participate.

A significant first step was taken when the Select Finance Committee recommended that arts funding be restored to 2008-09 levels in British Columbia.
