Job Description:

Manager, Cultural Development (1 Year Term)
The Manager, Cultural Development is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and overseeing arts and cultural programs and events, city-wide arts activities and cultural community partnerships. This position assists in the development of policies, procedures, goals, objectives and strategies and liaises with community groups, businesses and individuals to foster the development of new arts and cultural programs and events. The Manager, Cultural Development provides leadership by overseeing multi-use recreation facilities and ensuring the proper maintenance of the permanent art collection and managing program staff engaged in the work and overseeing contract instructors and volunteers.


The successful candidate for this position is a visionary leader with outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills and a broad range of experience. You possess an open, team-oriented leadership style and a proven ability to determine and assess arts and cultural needs, trends and opportunities within a community and to plan and coordinate municipal arts programs and events. It is essential that you are able to develop and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of internal and external customers and that you are able to demonstrate you bring a distinguished customer service philosophy.


Qualifications include a Bachelors in Arts Administration, Art History, Fine Arts, Cultural Planning or a related field, supplemented by sound related administrative and supervisory experience in arts administration or cultural development; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. In addition, you must have a valid BC driver’s license.
