Circle Craft is a unique BC Artist Cooperative dedicated to providing opportunities for craftspeople to connect with the community. Formed in 1972, Circle Craft has grown to become a major force in the marketing and promotion of quality craft utilizing a ‘direct from the artist’ approach. Built on a reputation for integrity and quality, both our annual Christmas Market and the shop and gallery on Granville Island are Vancouver traditions for locals and visitors alike and encompass a wide variety of media and design styles. Circle Craft is self-sustaining and is supported by commission on sales and participation fees.
Our 1994 mission statement reflects the aims of our founding members: “to promote the development, recognition and success of members and their work.” We are proud of our achievement in fulfilling our mission: Circle Craft is one of the most successful organizations of its kind in North America.
Circle Craft Co-operative is presently inviting applications for a part-time Sales Associate position We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic sales person, ideally with knowledge in craft, as well as experience using POS systems. This position is currently being offered for flexible days within Monday-Friday, with working hours scheduled within our opening hours of 9:30 am – 7:30 pm.
Successful applicants will have working (PC) computer skills, a patient and conscientious demeanour, flexibility with scheduling, full-fluency in written and spoken English, and an excellent ability to interact competently and thoroughly with customers and members.
- Greeting and assisting customers, including providing information about Circle Craft, our members, and their work in the store
- Ringing through sales
- Wrapping and packaging of purchases in an efficient and prompt manner
- Recording, ordering, and follow-up with customers and artists on custom orders
- Maintaining order and cleanliness of the displays, the shop and back rooms, including restocking the sales floor
Previous retail and customer service experience is a must. You will ideally have knowledge or interest in art and craft mediums, or have a strong desire to learn. Basic computer operating skills, including Windows and Microsoft programs, are required. You must be fluent in spoken and written English, and have great communication skills.
