CircusWest is Vancouver’s circus performing arts society – a comprehensive circus arts centre for all ages. Located in the historic Garden Auditorium on the PNE grounds in east Vancouver, CircusWest offers children, teens, and adults an opportunity to explore Circus Arts in an encouraging, non-competitive environment. CircusWest’s programs encourage respect for oneself and others and provide an environment to learn responsible risk-taking. As a collaborative community in which everyone can develop skills, find their artistic voice, and realize their potential, CircusWest is a creative space where individuals can dream big, push limits, and defy gravity.


Job Description: 

The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the successful positioning of CircusWest in the minds of the public. S/he manages and monitors public relations, media buying and production, and the electronic presence of the organization.
Under the direction of the Artistic Director, the Marketing Coordinator works with senior and other staff to promote CircusWest brand, program and event collateral, marketing materials, signage and editorial content. S/he supports the development of, and implements, the annual marketing plan. S/he also manages and generates content for CircusWest websites, blogs and social media sites.

 This is a permanent position averaging 28 to 35 hours per week
 The Marketing Coordinator is based in the CircusWest office at the PNE
Garden Auditorium. It is a dynamic, fluid work environment with competing
high-priority demands and an extremely fast pace.
 There may be occasional additional evening, weekend, and/or overtime hours
required to participate in activities such as Events, Shows, the Annual General Meeting, etc.


 Creates and maintains a marketing plan for programming, performances and events
 Acts as watchperson and gatekeeper of the CircusWest brand and brand elements;
 Assists in the development, deployment, and maintenance of the website;
 Updates social networking sites
 Designs and/or coordinates the production of brochures, postcards, flyers,
programs, etc and assists in planning, writing and editing.
 Provides marketing and promotion support, including research, creating, updating and maintaining contacts, and patron management.
 Some Reception and client service duties including answering the telephone, email, and questions.
 Ongoing media monitoring / logging / archiving
 Support to event management, representation and promotion at external
 Proofreads all content and ensures high standards of quality control.
 Coordinates print advertisements with local papers and online advertisements and campaigns.


 Degree or diploma in communications or public relations
 Strong computer, database and productivity software skills
 Experience with WordPress, MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite
 Experience in marketing, promotion and web design
 Familiarity with social networking sites and managing social media input
 Experience in graphic design for print and web
 Organization and time management skills
