Job Description: 

We are seeking a Publicist to manage strategic media promotions in accordance with the immediate and long-range goals of the company. This position implements effective and creative communication campaigns for the purpose of marketing, development, and company media coverage. The Publicist is ultimately accountable for all public and media relations.

The successful candidate is a confident, motivated, detail-oriented individual with considerable communication skills who thrives on the exchange of ideas.

Responsibilities: 

ACCOUNTABILITIES (including, but not limited to, the following)

•Establishes and maintains effective relationships with local and national reviewers, writers, editors, and broadcast journalists
•Serves as key media spokesperson
•Writes and distributes media releases
•Creates and facilitates engaging content for social media on all Arts Club channels
•Co-ordinates production photography and videography in-studio or on-location for media and marketing use
•Co-ordinates all media calls, public relation events, b-roll production, and press junkets
•Hosts media at opening night performances
•Liaise with theatre artists
•Maintains company archives

Qualifications: 

•Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, or marketing with a combination of 3–5 years of education and professional experience
•Established local and national media contacts
•Strong writing and editing skills
•A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is an asset
•Knowledge of union regulations (ACTRA, CAEA, VMA) is an asset
•Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; working knowledge of Photoshop is an asset
•Experience with an integrated ticketing database, specifically Tessitura, is an asset
•Highly organized and professional self-starter
•Exceptional interpersonal skills

The Publicist is a permanent, full-time position with the following hours: Monday–Friday, 9 AM– 5:30 PM. Some evening and weekend work is required.
