Acting Instructor - Text Analysis
Job Information
This is a temporary part time position for the period August 30, 2010 to Dec 22, 2010 teaching Text Analysis in our Acting Essentials program. Reporting to the Head of Acting for Film & TV and Acting Essentials, the Instructor is responsible for delivering curriculum effectively and providing feedback to students. Text Analysis is a lecture based class. It is an introductory course offering practical techniques for analyzing film, television and theatre scripts. Topics covered would include objectives, given circumstances, action verbs and unit and beat analysis. The instructor should understand and appreciate the relevance of thorough text analysis including character objective, action verbs, and given circumstances.
- Provide students with instruction based upon existing curriculum and adhering to the course outline.
- Class attendance and grading.
- A midterm written evaluation for all students
- Individual guidance of students where appropriate.
- Punctual and conscientious management of classes.
- Collaboration with Head of Department and faculty on progression of courses.
- Collaboration with administration staff on resources and equipment issues.
- Attendance at staff meetings (once every two months).
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree (or equivalent) and/or 3 years industry experience or software certification where applicable
- Portfolio demonstrating a high caliber of professional work.
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience with post secondary students
- Demonstrates and understanding of the learning profile of young adults entering the film industry.
- Ability to lead workshops, lectures and seminars.
- Excellent communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
