GOH BALLET ACADEMY
The Goh Ballet Academy is one of Canada’s preeminent ballet training institutions, with an enviable international reputation for excellence. Established in 1978 by Choo Chiat Goh and Lin Yee Goh, former Principal Dancers with the National Ballet of China, the Academy is now under the direction of Chan Hon Goh, until recently Prima Ballerina of the National Ballet of Canada. The Academy incorporates the non-profit Youth Company, a select performing ensemble of young artists making the transition to careers as fully-prepared professional dancers in companies around the world. The Academy introduces new interpretations of classic full–length productions, nurtures and cultivates award–winning aspiring dancers and commissions new works by some of the world’s most renowned choreographers.
• Supervise and follow up on responsibilities of all staff, delegated by the Principal/Director
• Scheduling of lessons
• Supervise student accounts: paid and up to date. Collection of tuition fees. Follow up with outstanding tuitions and send out notifications
• Distribute and communicate Academy information
• Organize and manage aspects of Academy’s schedule
• Maintain Academy and Principal’s files, forms, handbooks, voicemail, contact lists appointment, and website
• Create systems and procedure manuals in relations to seasonal activities and ensure that they are followed through by members of the relevant staff
• Organize/coordinate artistic events and presentations
• Act as central support and contact for all staff members, students, and parents
• Promote student enrolment
• Database maintenance and backup
• Write all correspondence for the Principal and Artistic staff
• Write and participate in the formatting of Academy’s marketing materials, brochures, notices, program notes, announcements and other publicity related communications
• Maintain and update files, contact lists and appointments
• Promoting and marketing of Academy’s various programs
• Act as liaison to parents and students
• Collect tuition fees
• Act as volunteer coordinator when necessary
• Follow up on fundraising initiatives and volunteer activities
1) Excellent computer skills, proficiency with Windows-based applications, especially MS Outlook, Excel and Word and Design applications such as InDesign.
2) Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. (English as well as Chinese preferred)
3) Able to work independently and to deadline
4) Strong interpersonal skills
5) Knowledge of Accounting
6) Excellent knowledge of computer graphics applications
7) Able to maintain and update Website
8) Efficient self management of time
9) An interest in the arts
10) Entrepreneurial mindset/skills
11) Must have sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality
12) Capable of juggling multiple tasks, quick to learn, follow explicit directions and have a positive attitude
13) Relative experience in the work force
This full-time position will require you to have flexible hours. Salary will be based on qualifications.
