Arts Coordinator
Job Information
The District of Sechelt is currently seeking a creative and energetic individual to coordinate and develop a sustainable lifecycle of arts and culture related projects.
This is a 2-year contract position with remuneration set at $25,000 per year to promote Sechelt as an arts and culture destination.
Under direction from the Assistant Corporate Officer and liaising with the District’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee, the individual will provide ongoing association with arts and culture and other affiliate groups within the community and plan, develop, coordinate and evaluate artistic and cultural activities and special events. The individual will support and promote local arts and culture groups by creating and identifying initiatives and projects for participation, conducting participant meetings and creating forums for input. Other essential functions include researching and developing grant proposals, making presentations, writing reports, press releases, and promotional materials.
This position requires the experience and ability to consistently perform tasks with a high degree of visibility, responsibility and accountability under delegated authority. Other required competencies include ability to secure grant and other underwriting for events, understanding a variety of arts and culture genres, the ability to assume a leadership role, experience in and ability to plan, organize and coordinate special events, ability to prepare an event budget and keep costs within it, perform on own initiative a variety of details relating to an event, establish and maintain effective working relationships in the course of work and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
