Job Information
For 2011/2012, VACT will be developing new Asian Canadian playwrights and encouraging new original material! We are looking for Asian Canadian plays! VACT will be hiring an Associate Artistic Director to set up VACT’s Theatre Lab Project (dependent on funding approval) to start Feb 1, 2012!
The AAD will be responsible for:
- Creating and implementing the artistic vision of VACT’s Theatre Lab Project to ensure that the development of new work corresponds to the mandate of VACT and its programming;
- Fulfilling any administrative, production or marketing tasks with the Theatre Lab Project
- Promoting and representing VACT, its artistic mandate and its programming in the community;
- Taking a lead role in Arts Advocacy;
- Ensuring the successful recruitment, training, supervision and evaluation of VACT contractors/volunteers;
- Assisting the Artistic Director with the management of VACT;
- Reporting to the Artistic Director and General Manager.
This position is a part-time position, flexible 16 hours a week @ $18/hr (Feb 1 – Nov 28) with a possibility of an extension in November 2012. Training and skills building will be provided to the selected candidate.
The Associate Artistic Director (AAD) must have some experience or training in the following:
- Developing, directing, producing and/or presenting theatre artistic programs;
- Grant writing, soliciting private and public sector partnerships and private donations;
- Building community engagement with stakeholders (board members, staff, patrons, funders, audience, artists, government, and/or other art organizations).
Training and skills building will be provided to the selected candidate.
