Description: 

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival is seeking two motivated individuals to participate in a Job Creation Partnership project with a focus on Audience Development and Community Development.

Duration: The project will begin October 24 and run until the end of March 2012 with participant start date of October 31.  Participation will be full time at 35 hours per week.

Eligibility: Positions are open only to individuals who are currently receiving employment benefits or have done so in the past 36 months or to individuals who are returning to work for the first time following a maternity/paternity leave within the past 5 years.

This initiative, funded by the Province of British Columbia under the Employment & Labour Market Services, enables participants to receive benefits while experiencing the opportunity to enhance or maintain their employment skills and develop a network of future employers.

 

Responsibilities: 

- To research new markets
- To assist in the development of new audiences
- To assist in the development an online outlet for festival merchandise
- To work with vendors, volunteers and community partners to identify their needs and build more opportunities
- To assist in developing new community based programs and encourage participation from communities outside the festival's current reach

 

Qualifications: 

Employment skills include: customer service; organizational skills; competent knowledge of Microsoft Word; Excel; Filemaker; Internet email; communication skills, both spoken and written.   Familiarity with event planning is an asset, but not required.
