Job Information
The Vancouver International Fringe Festival, produced by the First Vancouver Theatrespace Society, is BC’s largest theatre festival and North America’s most international Fringe. Pursuing the vision of "Theatre for Everyone", the Fringe features unjuried, uncensored theatre of all kinds and for all audiences. With over 700 performances by more than 90 artists, the Fringe runs September 8-18, 2011 at Mainstage Venues on and around Granville Island and at Bring Your Own Venues across the city. The most popular shows are held over for the Pick of the Fringe September 21-25.
Reporting to the Box Office Manager, the Box Office Coordinator provides customer service to Box Office patrons and assists in the day-to-day operations of the Box Office. The position is a seasonal position running from on or near August 22nd, 2011 to September 20, 2011.
- Providing excellent Box Office customer service, including facilitating pickup of festival passes and complimentary tickets, selling tickets using Theatre Manager ticket software, and responding to inquiries in person and via telephone and email.
- Implementing all Box Office policies and procedures
- Assisting in the setup and strike of the Box Office
- Assisting in the training of Box Office staff
- Preparing show envelopes
- Supervising the Box Office staff and volunteers in the absence of the Box Office Manager
- Troubleshooting to resolve customer service issues and technical difficulties
- Writing a final report
- Other duties as required
- Box Office experience
- Experience with Theatre Manager an asset
- Ability to comfortably and accurately deal with cash
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office required; databases and website maintenance an asset
- The ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a team
- The ability to work flexible hours and a capacity for working under pressure
- Good organizational and multi-tasking skills
- An interest in the theatre and an awareness of the non-profit environment

7.5 hours per day on August 22 – September 1
