Access and Diversity is searching for a Camp Director of UBC CampOUT! - an educational, social, and personal development camp for sexual and gender variant youth

Responsibilities: 

Organizing and managing the 2010 camp for 50-60 youth; facilitating the selection process for campers in consultation with the Camp OUT! Selection Committee; recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating camp support staff and volunteers; coordinating the CampOUT! Youth Advisory Committee; work with the Steering Committee to coordinate and facilitate curriculum development initiatives for the camp using youth participatory-based methods with the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). The Camp Director will relocate to the camp facility for the duration of the camp.

Qualifications: 

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. 2 years relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working with the community-based services for queer and questioning youth is essential.
• Demonstrated experience in the development of youth educational programming, community outreach.
• Knowledge of youth sexual health, sex/gender issues related to health behaviour and sexual minority health.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of diverse cultural and social issues.
• Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Proven conflict resolution skills.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize and work effectively to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, good judgment, confidentiality and discretion.

Remuneration: 

Salary Range: $40,565 - $48,697 annually
This is a seasonal, 50% FTE position
