Island Dance Studio takes pride in providing superior training in a supportive environment enabling all children to reach their own personal potential. Professional piano accompaniment is provided for all ballet classes. Strong communication skills amongst our staff makes for a positive and professional environment that fosters collaborative work. These interpersonal skills also translate into well informed and supportive dance parents. Island Dance Studio shares studio space with Ballet Victoria and is conveniently located in Victoria’s downtown core. We welcome inquiries from teachers wishing to contribute their skills and experience to our growing local and international student population.
Teaching a wide range of levels from pre-primary to advanced 2 (both recreational and professional training classes)
Teaching and coaching Bridge Program students (Senior post secondary students in the Professional Training Program associated with Ballet Victoria)
Knowledge of repertoire from the classical ballets, as well as an ability to prepare choreographed dances for recitals is preferred
A desire to teach young children (pre-primary level) is essential
Certification in the Cecchetti teaching method
Successful completion of Advanced 2 Cecchetti Examination
A minimum of five years of professional teaching experience including successful preparation of Cecchetti exam candidates
Former professional dance experience is preferred
Experience teaching Modern, Jazz and Character Dance is also an asset
