Serving youth ages 2-19 for more than 25 years, Arts Umbrella strives to foster the creativity of young people by providing innovative and quality visual and performing arts programs that inspire intellect, spirit and passion. Delivering both on-site and outreach programs, Arts Umbrella touches the lives of thousands of children a year through the delivery of over 200 weekly classes. Programs range from general courses in music, theatre, dance, painting, sculpture, architecture, film, photography, media and more.
Reporting to the Director, Special Events, the Volunteer Coordinator acts as the central point of contact for volunteer management at Arts Umbrella and plays a key role in managing teams of multi-level volunteers who support the work of all Arts Umbrella departments. This includes recruiting, interviewing, selecting, orienting, training, placing, and evaluating volunteers within the organization. The Coordinator is also responsible for relevant stewardship and recognition of volunteers, assisting other staff members to identify productive and creative volunteer roles, and for the on-site coordination of volunteers at Special Events. Please note, this is a part time position.
An ideal candidate for this position has a college or university degree and/or one to three years of experience coordinating volunteers in various capacities. We are looking for someone experienced in effectively coordinating groups of volunteers through delegation, problem solving, and direction as well as strong people and communication skills, extremely organized, and adept at project planning. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge software is considered an asset. The ability to work weekends and evenings to support events is a requirement for this position.
