Curatorial & Education Assistant
Job Information
The successful candidate will assist the Visual Arts Manager with the installation of the summer exhibition Robert Young: Simulataneous Lacunae, a retrospective exhibition created in partnership with Simon Fraser University Gallery. Additionally, the successful candidate will assist in the development of the exhibition Kwikwetlem First Nation: Red Fish up the River.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of contemporary art and local history and have an interest in museum studies, educational programming and First Nations History in the Lower Mainland.
The Curatorial & Education Assistant will develop and present tours of the gallery and assist with public program presentations. Other responsibilities include, writing information panels to accompany the exhibitions, assisting with media releases and promotional development, as well as assisting with Summer Arts Camp development and operations.
Required skills: Fluent in English, knowledge of museum studies, history, highly organized, able to work independently, confident public speaker. MUST BE RETURNING TO FULL TIME STUDIES IN FALL 2011. Position is dependant upon HRDC funding.
