Job Information
The Vancouver International Fringe Festival, produced by the First Vancouver Theatrespace Society, is BC’s largest theatre festival and North America’s most international Fringe. Pursuing the vision of "Theatre for Everyone", the Fringe features unjuried, uncensored theatre of all kinds and for all audiences. With over 600 performances by more than 80 artists, the Fringe runs September 8-18, 2011 at Mainstage Venues on and around Granville Island and at Bring Your Own Venues across the city. The most popular shows are held over for the Pick of the Fringe September 22-25.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Assistant is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all festival-time and post-festival fundraising campaigns. This is a full-time seasonal position commencing on May 16, 2011 and ending on November 11, 2011.
Eligibility: This position is funded through the Job Creation Partnership Program. All applicants must be currently unemployed and be receiving or recently have received Employment Insurance (EI) benefits.
Planning logistics of Your Fringe for a Day! major donor campaign, Sweet on the Fringe fundraising presentations, and Would You Like Fringe With That? ticket top-up campaign
Development of Sweet on the Fringe campaign information for sponsors, donors, and presenters
Liaising with Your Fringe for a Day! donors on donor recognition
Working with the Box Office Manager to set up Would You Like Fringe With That? ticket top-up capability for online and in-person ticket sales, including training of Box Office staff and developing campaign information
Liaising with Fringe Media and Marketing Department to publicize new fundraising initiatives
Training and supervising Sweet on the Fringe volunteers
Festival-time daily monitoring of all fundraising campaigns, including generation of reports and reinforcing of staff and volunteer training
Assistance in the evaluation of all festival fundraising campaigns
Assistance in execution and evaluation of post-festival online and direct mail campaigns
Other duties as required, including preparation and delivery of a final report
Experience with special events or not-for-profits; fundraising experience preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proven organizational skills, with the ability to work flexible hours and meet multiple deadlines
Computer skills: Microsoft Office required, database or website/html knowledge an asset
Experience working with volunteers an asset
Passion for the arts and an awareness of the not-for-profit environment
