Job Information
Bard on the Beach is Western Canada’s largest annual Shakespeare Festival with an annual budget of $3.5 million and a team of professional artists and administrators. Now entering our 21st Season, we produce four professional productions annually in two large open-backed tents in Vanier Park. Our mandate is to provide high quality, accessible Shakespeare productions, while maintaining reasonable ticket prices.
General Description of Responsibilities: Bard on the Beach is seeking a capable, enthusiastic individual to join our development team to assist with corporate sponsorship and individual giving. This is a full-time maternity leave position reporting to the Director of Development.
- Assist with implementation of multi-faceted fundraising program
- Assist training and support of front-of-house staff and volunteers re: membership acquisition
- Administer membership program, individual, corporate and foundation gifts
- Prepare revenue and expense reports for the department
- Assist with development of collateral materials for the department
- Liaise with marketing department on website updates
- Assist with prospecting, acquisition and stewardship of individual donors
- Coordinate and execute donor recognition/acquisition events
- Coordinate corporate recognition event(s)
- Assist with prospecting, acquisition and stewardship of corporate sponsors
- Liaise with corporate sponsors, donors and prospects prior to performances
- Completed post-secondary training or equivalent work experience
- An appreciation for the performing arts
- Professional fundraising experience in the social profit sector
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to develop plans, communicate and execute them effectively
- Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
- Organized and detail oriented
- Able to work independently and also as part of a team
- Supervisory experience an asset
- Experience coordinating a variety of events
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with data base management
- Knowledge of Theatre Manager a definite asset

This is a full-time maternity leave position (37.5 hours/week) beginning April 5th.
Includes some evenings and weekends. Salary: $30,000 - $32,000 (dependant on experience)
