DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT - Pacific Opera Victoria
Job Information
Founded in 1980, Pacific Opera Victoria (POV) has earned a reputation as one of Canada's leading opera companies. The company is distinguished by its commitment to diverse repertoire, original productions, and its commitment to Canadian artists, and our leadership within the arts sector regionally and the opera sector nationally.
Thanks to its extraordinary audience and generous supporters – individual, corporate, foundation and government - POV has grown by 250% in the last decade. This growth has been invested in artistic quality, education programs, outreach programs and the nurturing of Canadian artists at every stage of their careers. Beginning last season, the company expanded from three main stage productions each season to four, thus giving POV more scope to explore works from opera's 400-year history.
Today the company has an annual operating budget of $3.7M. The POV Foundation, which is a separately incorporated endowment for Pacific Opera, holds assets of $3.4M. Currently POV fundraises approximately $1.5M a year, and seeks to grow fundraising revenues for artistic operations, for working capital and reserve funds, and for endowment.
