Responsibilities:
Arts Umbrella's Early Childhood Music programming is offered in two class types: Musical Expressions for ages 3-6, and Parent & Me: Musical Expressions for ages 2-3. In these programs children engage in song, musical games, movement and instrument jam sessions, learning through experimenting with a variety of rhythm and tonality exercises. Inspirational instruction encourages children to express themselves freely while developing their musical interests and skills.

Qualifications:
As a candidate, you are an energetic and enthusiastic individual with a passion for working with children. You have an extensive music instruction background and experience instructing at the Early Childhood level. You have experience with classical music education curriculum, and a significant working understanding of pop, jazz, world music and folk idioms. You have an innovative and engaging approach to teaching, and are able to inspire creativity in your students. You enjoy working on a team of instructors who share the same vision. Your qualifications include:

  • Post secondary education in music
  • Music instruction, or a professional music background
  • Experience working with children ages 2-6
  • Education in Early Childhood Education preferred

Successful candidates will be contracted to teach weekly at Arts Umbrella in the general program for the 2009/2010 programming year, beginning September 14, 2009. Successful candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Records Check and a reference check.

Salary: Compensation is commensurate with experience.
