Job Title: Event Coordinator, Film Festival
Position: Contract/part time (Feb 1-April 30, 2010)
Reporting to the Film Festival Chair, the Event Coordinator will organize and deliver the 2 day Women in Film Festival 2010, April 17th - 18th, in collaboration with the WIFTV Office Coordinator and the Film Festival Committee. The festival includes: Screenings, Panels, Industry meetings, Trade Forum Exhibits, Opening Night Reception, Silent Auction, Concession. http://www.womeninfilm.ca/WIFF_2010.html
Position could lead to additional event contracts.
Primary duties will be to coordinate all aspects of the film festival production and oversee the volunteer committees; work across all areas of event management and festival relations; and be intimately involved with the mechanics of the festival operations:
• Deliver all Festival events to a high standard, on time and within budget.
• Work closely with volunteer committees, WIFTV office staff and venue staff, problem solving each area of pre-production; meet with committee heads; coordinate all aspects of event
• Be on-site point person during event: coordinate volunteers, rentals, deliveries, signage, set up/strike, tech rehearsal
• Work with the PR committee to do additional marketing
• Solicit sponsorship (as needed) & ensure all guests and sponsors are thanked promptly after the Festival
• Deliver monthly written report to Festival Chair.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized and motivated, with attention to detail
• Ability to work well with committees and volunteers
• Knowledge of Vancouver film community/stakeholders
• Experience in a film festival or public event setting
• Knowledge of screening formats
• Serving it Right certificate
• Experience with community partnerships/sponsorships/PR
• Ability to work under pressure and flexible hours, including evenings & weekends
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and access to home office
• Full Microsoft Office computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe)
