Gateway Theatre is seeking an outgoing, detail-oriented individual to fill the position of FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER.  We rely on our Audience Services staff to provide exceptional service to our patrons.

 

*This position entails no more than 3 shifts per month (approx. 5hrs/shift); however, the ideal candidate would also apply to work as a Theatre Concession Server (see posting) and work a combination of approximately 3 shifts per week, between the two positions.

Responsibilities: 

As a FOH Manager at Gateway, you will:

  • Communicate and collaborate with the Manager, Volunteer & Audience Services to ensure proper management of events and services while maintaining theatre and society policies.
  • Attend training sessions and meetings as required.
  • Efficiently manage and coordinate Audience Services during events.
  • Supervise volunteers and bar staff during events.
  • Liaise with Stage Management and Technical Crew to ensure the smooth operation of all events, including start times and intermission lengths.
  • Engage with Box Office staff on a regular basis at every event.
  • Reconcile bar cash floats before and at the end of events.
  • Represent the theatre and society in a professional manner, particularly when dealing with patrons and volunteers.
  • Enforce theatre and volunteer program policies, including implementation of fire and safety emergency procedures.
  • Trouble-shoot any issues that may arise during an event and document activities on the daily Front of House Report.
  • Prepare Audience Services reports.
  • Hold volunteer briefings before each event; covering emergency evacuation procedures and show notes.
  • Ensure that the BC Liquor Control and Licensing Act is adhered to.
Qualifications: 

To be a successful candidate, you must be over 19 years of age and:

  • Possess a valid “Serving It Right” certificate.
  • Prior FOH Manager experience is preferred.
  • Possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Be a hardworking, ethical professional.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with patrons, volunteers, and staff.
  • Have the ability to work calmly under pressure and posses a friendly disposition.
  • Be able to climb stairs throughout the shift and lift heavy supplies on occasion.
