Fundraising and Events Assistant - Internship
Job Information
The Vancouver International Fringe Festival, produced by the First Vancouver Theatrespace Society, is BC’s largest theatre festival. Pursuing the vision of "Theatre for Everyone", the Fringe features unjuried, uncensored theatre of all kinds and for all audiences. With over 700 performances by more than 80 artists, the Fringe runs September 6-16, 2012 at Mainstage Venues on and around Granville Island and at Bring Your Own Venues across the city. The most popular shows are held over for the Pick of the Fringe September 19-23.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Fundraising and Events Assistant contributes to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Festival-time and post-Festival fundraising and events. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in developing skills in Fundraising, Communications, Arts Administration, and Event Planning.
The position is an unpaid internship from early December or January (depending on availability) to late October, 2012. The exact hours of work are relatively flexible, with a commitment of approximately 20 hours per week from December to May, 37.5 hours per week from May to September, and 30 hours per week in October. This position may be extended to mid-December based on the interests and availability of the successful candidate.
• Assisting with the planning and implementation of all Fringe fundraising campaigns and events, including:
• Signature fundraising event (with Silent and Live Auctions) and other Festival events
• Sweet on the Fringe Festival fundraising presentations where donors receive fair-trade chocolate!
• Sweet on the Fringe individual and corporate matching program
• Your Fringe for a Day! in which a day of the Festival is named in honour of a major gift donor
• Flaunt Your Fringe! ticket top-up campaign online and at the Box Office
• $5K in 5 Days and major gifts email, online, social media, and written campaign
• Feed the Fringe in which local restaurants and other businesses donate during the Festival
• Liaising with a variety of stakeholders, including Fringe Marketing, Box Office and Volunteer departments, Sweet on the Fringe presenters and teams, auction coordinators, major donors, and corporate donors
• Training and supervising Sweet on the Fringe volunteers
• Assisting with daily oversight of and reports on each campaign’s progress during the Festival
• Assisting with donor and sponsor stewardship
• Other duties as required, including general Festival assistance and the completion of a final report
SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND BENEFITS:
