General Manager
Job Information
Rebus Creative is seeking a dynamic, goal-oriented individual for the full-time position of General Manager.
The successful candidate will have at least five years of increasing responsibility in general management and/or producing in the arts. S/he will have a demonstrated level of professional experience and a deep understanding of and commitment to the development and promotion of the arts in BC, as well as experience and understanding of non-profit arts management.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Production: acting as producer for the Word On The Street festival, BC Book Prizes gala and other client productions, events and tours.
- Financial Management: ensuring effective financial controls are in place, preparing, monitoring and revising the operating and production budgets, generating financial reports, working with the Bookkeeper and liaising with the company’s auditor.
- Maintaining good relations with government agencies, optimizing funding from governmental sources and preparing operating and project grants for all three levels of government.
- Liaising with the Board of Directors of various clients, ensuring that they are kept informed of the conditions and operations of their organizations and are engaged in the growth of the company.
- Representing the company to the artists, our audiences, stakeholders and broader communities through leadership and participation.
We are looking for a confident, enthusiastic and creative person with an entrepreneurial spirit, good sense of humour and the ability to deal humanely and wisely with a broad spectrum of personalities.
Qualifications:
• Experience working in a senior position in a non-profit arts organization
• Experience in grant writing and fund raising
• Experience in supervising staff
• Forward-thinking project management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of standard accounting procedures and practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working Conditions:
Open plan office, casual working environment, collaborative approach, PC platform.
Hours generally are Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 5 pm. Friday 9 am to 12 pm. The position does require occasional evening and weekend work (board meetings and public events).
