General Manager
Job Information
This is an 18 month contract position working out of an office in downtown Vancouver. The Creative City Network links municipal cultural workers across the country in a web based, and face to face environment. This is a wonderful opportunity for either an eager early career self-starter, or seasoned arts professional who can bring a wealth of experience to the position.

• The effective and efficient management and operation of the organization.
• Providing leadership in the Vancouver office to any paid or unpaid staff, service providers, and to volunteers of the organization, as required.
• Management of the organization’s accounts, finances and legal requirements.
• Reports to a national Board of Directors through teleconference or webinars.
• Project conceptualization, development and management with, and on behalf of, the Board of Directors.
• Maintaining and developing relationships with municipal members, sponsors, partners, all levels of government and the private sector, as required
• Program service to members including web site management, social media coordination, fundraising, and grant-writing.
• Identifying and managing the services of contractors supplying the organization.

• A creative, self-directed individual with strong written communication and inter-personal skills.
• A background in local government, cultural planning and cultural development.
• Ability to work within deadlines, to establish priorities and to develop work plans with defined objectives and outcomes.
• Strong financial management skills.
• Able to work on your own in a solo work environment.
• Proven leadership skills in a team environment.
• Ability to analyze problems and to develop realistic and innovative solutions.
• Proven ability to professionally represent a high-profile organization.
• Proven ability in government relations, grant-writing, and business sponsorships.
• Ability to deliver effective presentations.
• Advanced computer skills, including the ability to manage databases, listservs, websites, as well as advanced spreadsheet, word processing, and other software competencies.
• Ability to travel occasionally and work with a flexible schedule.
Statement of Qualifications:
• University Degree in one of the following areas: Arts or Cultural administration, Public Administration or equivalent qualifications and work experience.
• Experience with financial administration, project management, and program service.
• Language: Excellent verbal and written English. French is desirable but not required.

The salary range for this position is $40,000 to $44,000 with an additional percentage of gross salary paid in lieu of benefits.
