Job Information
For 38 years in East Vancouver, The Cultch has offered contemporary programming in theatre, dance & music by local, national & international artists.
JOB REQUIREMENTS include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the Technical Director prior to events
- Set up monitors, stage fill and appropriate stage inputs (mics/DI’s/etc.).
- To produce a suitable sound or pa layout
- Help with the unloading, loading and assembly of the productions
- Assist in other Cultch production departments with advice and technical aid when requested
- Maintenance of Cultch audio equipment in both the Historic Stage and Culture Lab performance spaces
- Comply with BC safe working practice and methodology. Instruction of other employees in proper work procedures and the use of safety equipment while working at height, either on ladders, or in personnel lifts.
- Experience with the operation of Yamaha M7 Sound Mixing Desk and 2-4 years mixing live music as well as playback
- Experience reading stage plots and input paperwork
- Experience with editing (including digital and computer software) for show sound playback when required including minidisk, CD, SFX and/or Q-Lab
- Live Performance Electrical Certification
- IASTE membership – permittee or full
- Valid BC driver’s license
- Level 1 Occupational First Aid certificate is an asset
- Physically fit in order to do multiple trips up and down stairs
- The ability to work to schedule and meet deadlines
- The ability to work well under pressure
- Good communication skills and a love of theatre.

This is a part-time, contract position commencing on September 5, 2011. Most work hours will take place in the late afternoon and evenings including weekends. Days off are flexible and based on the performance schedule.
This job is a union position governed by the terms and conditions of the Technical Collective Agreement between Vancouver East Cultural Centre and IATSE Local 118.
