MANAGER, MEMBERSHIP AND INDIVIDUAL GIVING (Temporary Maternity Leave)
Job Information
DUTIES:
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Development, the Manager, Membership and Individual Giving is responsible for managing and implementing Membership and Annual Giving campaigns for supporters up to $1,499, as well as supporting the Leadership campaign. The incumbent will develop an array of acquisition, retention, cultivation and marketing plans, and will then implement and measure them, with the goal of expanding the Gallery’s Membership and Donor bases. They will work to continually strengthen Membership services, by undertaking a proactive approach in the supervision of excellent and timely customer service.
Responsibilities include:
- developing Membership and Annual Giving campaigns for acquisition and retention
- writing persuasive direct mail appeals and other collateral materials
- designing marketing campaigns to attract new Members and retain and upgrade current ones
- preparing revenue and expense projections and managing the Membership budgets
- managing the Young Associates program
- planning and attending Membership events
- providing other ongoing Membership services to Gallery Members
- maintaining excellent relations with a variety of contacts, both internal and external
- overseeing the Membership renewal process, month-end financial and Membership reports
- providing guidance, direction and supervision to a team of three staff engaged in support activities
- resolving Membership reporting problems and ensuring that Membership data is entered in a timely and accurate manner
- overseeing the team of Membership Desk staff and coordinating and training them as needed
University graduate in communications, commerce or a related field plus a minimum of three years’ experience in progressively more responsible Membership and Development positions. Previous responsibilities for planning and undertaking direct mail campaigns, events, promotional programs and Membership cultivation in addition to supervisory experience required. The candidate will also have experience working in a non-profit setting, writing a range of direct mail solicitation materials, fundraising copy, advertisements, and other correspondence. Excellent fundraising and Membership database skills (preferably Raiser’s Edge) and intermediate to advanced MS Office skills are required. The ideal candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrated organizational capabilities and the ability to supervise and coordinate all Membership activities. Proven ability to work in a tactful and professional manner with the public, Members, donors, volunteers and colleagues required.

SALARY: Pay Grade 23, step 1, $25.90 per hour
HOURS: Monday to Friday; nine day fortnight. Some flexibility working evenings.
