The Vancouver Chamber Choir is a nonprofit society devoted to performance excellence, delivering the largest choral concert season in North America while maintaining a commitment to educational initiative and community involvement. We believe it is of the utmost importance to maintain relationships with all aspects of the community to ensure the future of the choral art form. The Choir’s chartered objectives, exemplified by our various initiatives, include “the fostering of a better appreciation of choral music… and contributing to the growth of choral music in Canada in every way possible”.
The Vancouver Chamber Choir is looking for an extremely organized, detail-oriented, self-driven individual with a passion for the musical arts. Reporting to the General Manager, and Communications & Production Manager, the Marketing Assistant will develop and implement a variety of marketing and communications activities including:
- In cooperation with other staff, develop and implement group sales campaigns including one-on-one meetings in the community to increase group ticket purchases.
- Maintain database records of donors and subscribers.
- Develop relations with various community interest groups such as: seniors organizations, ESL schools, private music schools, church groups, community centres, various ethnic communities, other choirs, etc.
- Establish cross-promotional strategies with local merchants and businesses
- Assist in the development of promotional schemes (including a variety of communications, marketing and publicity tools) in support of the Choir’s special initiatives: Subscription Concert Series, Youth Ticket Program, etc.
- Research new marketing and sponsorship opportunities and potential media partners.
- Assist with production and communications activities supporting the Choir’s award-winning educational programs.
- General administrative work (answering phones, sending faxes, updating online listings, helping with mailouts, database maintenance, etc.)
- Strong communication skills, both spoken and written
- Computer literate
- Able to work independently
- Excellent organizational skills
- Outgoing personality
- Must be returning to school in September as a full time student
- Assets: Marketing/PR experience, working with Filemaker Pro, access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
