Description: 

The VSO School of Music is a new state-of-the-art community music school slated to open in January 2011. Located behind the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Vancouver, this new 25,000 square foot educational facility will include 16 instruction rooms, 2 classrooms, 6 practice rooms, ensemble room, piano lab, percussion room, computer listening stations, gift shop and cafe. In addition, the School will have an acoustically isolated 120-seat recital hall with recording and distance learning capabilities.

Students of the VSO School of Music will be of all ages and abilities. Private and group lessons, classes and ensembles will be offered throughout the year.

Qualified individuals are invited to apply for contracted faculty positions in the areas of Piano, Voice, Theory, History, Early Childhood and Classical Guitar.

Responsibilities: 

•Provide engaging and supportive instruction
•Work as part of an instructional and organizational team
•Create performance opportunities for students by holding recitals, organizing opportunities in the community or encouraging participation in music festivals, competitions and masterclasses

Qualifications: 

•Minimum of ARTC, BMus or equivalent required with preference for MMus or DMA/PhD
•Proven teaching experience
•Strong personal reputation
•Must submit to a Criminal Record Check
