The VHF is a registered charity supporting the conservation of heritage buildings in Vancouver through public awareness, education, fundraising and granting activities. If you love Vancouver and you are proud of its brief but colourful history, you may be interested in applying to be the Vancouver Heritage Foundation Programming Assistant.  Reporting to the Programming Director, the Programming Assistant works 4-days / week as part of a small, dynamic team to support the planning and implementation of VHF programs and events. 

Responsibilities: 

Key reponsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • providing support in the planning and implementation of events + programs
  • Supervising on-line and telephone program and event registrations
  • Managing grant applications forms
  • Organizing hard copy documents and CDs for program records
  • Working with Office Administrator to make sure all registrants, homeowners, instructors and sponsors related to programs are inputted into the VHF database and e-blast database
  • Working together with the Office Administrator in the mailing of program and event tickets and guidebooks
  • Coordinating program and event volunteers
  • Working with Office Administrator to order supplies for programs and events
  • Managing and creating all site signage, feedback forms and documents accoumpanying each program
  • Coordinating venues and catering for programs and events
  • Implementing social media martketing for programs and events
Qualifications: 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Post-secondary education ini history, heritage conservation, communications or a related field
  • A passion for the history and built environment of the city
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs, and familiarity with Photoshop or InDesign
  • Familiarity with social media (Facebook, twitter, Flickr, You Tube and preferably web content management abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • A meticulous work ethic and an ability to attend to detail
  • Event planning skills and experience
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • A positive and professional demeanour
  • Comfortable taking initiative in an entrepreneurial environment, and the ability to work in a self-directed manner
  • Flexibility and adaptability to take on new projects and challenges as they arise

Remuneration:
