Job Description: 

The Arts Club Theatre Company is Western Canada’s largest professional theatre company. Now in its 47th season, this not-for-profit charitable organization produces and presents theatre year- round in three theatres (the 200-seat Revue Stage, the 450-seat Granville Island Stage, and the 650-seat Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage) and also tours extensively throughout the province.

Responsibilities: 
  • Reports directly to the Communications Manager and is responsible to the Director of Sales and Marketing
  • In consultation with the Development and Marketing departments, develops and implements short and long-range goals, media plans, strategies for comprehensive and effective communication programmes and appropriate media coverage for special events, corporate partnerships, fundraising initiatives, tour productions, and related activities.
  • Writes media releases, brochure copy, newsletter articles, and editorial as required
  • Coordinates photography and media kits as needed
  • Manages updates to the online pressroom for related activities
  • Monitors timelines and budgets in consultation with the Communications Manager
  • Attend a weekly meeting with the Communications Manager
  • Fulfills the duties of the Communications Manager during their vacation leave
  • Establishes and maintains effective media contacts with a focus on business , food, wine, and social columnists
  • PR tracking and research
Qualifications: 
  • Professional experience and coursework in communications and public relations
  • Existing media contacts are an asset
  • Expertise in writing, editing, and proofreading
  • Must be ableto meet required deadlines, have tenacity to ensure proper coverage is received, and work effectively within a team to achieve goals
  • Exceptional interpersonal awareness – flexible, dependable and adaptable
  • Excellent organizational skills – thorough, detail-oriented, focused and works to very tight deadlines
  • Experience with layout, art direction and visual displays
  • High level of professionalism
  • A love of theatre and/or the arts
