Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts
Job Information
Founded in 1919, the Vancouver Symphony is the third largest symphony orchestra in Canada, with an annual operating budget of over $13 million. The Orchestra performs 150 concerts annually in some fourteen series in its home, the Orpheum Theatre, and numerous venues throughout Lower Mainland British Columbia. In addition, it can be heard regularly across Canada and the northern United States on CBC Radio broadcasts. Bramwell Tovey is the Music Director.
The Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts will report to the Vice President, Chief Development Officer. S/he will be responsible for all aspects of growing the VSO’s annual Major Gifts program from Individuals, Corporations and Foundations and reach aggressive revenue targets. The Senior Development Officer, Major Gifts areas of responsibility may include any or all of the following:
- Enhance and grow the VSO’s major gift portfolio of individual, corporate and foundation donors. This will include identification, cultivation and solicitation of new prospects from within the VSO’s network of supporters and beyond - in addition to growing current relationships
- Prepare and execute a comprehensive annual work plan and budget to meet established revenue targets in Individual Giving, Corporate Sponsorship and Foundation grants
- Create comprehensive briefing notes, case statements, progress reports and other documents in support of cultivation and solicitation of prospects and current donors
- Prepare and/or facilitate effective donor communications, including fundraising collateral, funding proposals, acknowledgement letters and stewardship materials
- Provide exemplary stewardship to donors from all sectors that exceeds donor expectations
- Assist in the planning and execution of donor cultivation and stewardship events
- Maintain comprehensive donor and prospect records, including all research and communication
- Manage gift administration, donor acknowledgement and donor recognition
- Represent the VSO, when requested at official meetings and functions
- Perform other related duties in support of the Vice President, Chief Development Officer
