Bard on the Beach is Western Canada’s largest annual Shakespeare Festival with an annual budget of $4 million and a team of professional artists and administrators.  Now entering our 22nd Season, we produce four professional productions annually in two large open-backed tents in Vanier Park.  Our mandate is to provide high quality, accessible Shakespeare productions, while maintaining affordable ticket prices.

Responsibilities: 

Bard on the Beach is seeking a capable, enthusiastic individual to join our operations team to assist in a broad range of logistical and event coordination support tasks. Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, this position will also provide on-the-ground assistance during events.

 

Detailed Responsibilities:

Tasks and responsibilities are primarily in two key areas – event coordination and administrative support.

Event Coordination – the candidate will bring a background in event coordination to:

  • liaise with sponsors and partners holding events on site
  • assist in coordination of signature Bard events – Bard-B-Q & Fireworks and Wine-Tasting
  • assist in organizing Bard hospitality events including annual volunteer BBQ

Administrative Support – the candidate will be able to use their organizational skills to provide general administrative support to the operations team.

Qualifications: 
  • completed post-secondary training or equivalent work experience
  • experience coordinating a variety of events, preferably in theatre or festival environments
  • a passion for live theatre and the arts, particularly Shakespeare
  • highly professional with strong communication skills
  • adept at working with Excel spreadsheets
  • ability to develop plans, communicate and execute them effectively
  • ability to multitask in a dynamic environment
  • conscientious, able to work independently and also as part of a team
  • organized and detail oriented while keeping an eye on the big picture
  • comfortable supervising volunteers
  • cash handling experience an asset
  • experience with Theatre Manager Ticketing system is an asset

Remuneration: 

Hours: This is a seasonal position beginning in May. Hours may vary week to week dependent on number of events. Shifts will include evening and weekend work.
