Job Description: 

The Satellite Video Exchange Society seeks a self directed, motivated technical professional for the position of Technical + Production Coordinator.  The Technical + Production Coordinator is primarily responsible for managing, developing and maintaining VIVO’s technical and creative environment, providing technical support to VIVO’s membership and staff, as well as basic training to interns and volunteers.  The coordinator also functions as VIVO’s main Information Technology personnel, implementing and maintaining VIVO’s office systems.  The Technical + Production Coordinator is a member of the Management Collective, and is responsible for maintaining the departmental budget and reports to the General Manager about financial planning within a provided budget structure.

Responsibilities: 

Technical:

-  Managing and maintaining a professional and creative environment, providing technical and other production assistance to members for various types of media art.

-  Perform and/or supervise the research, purchase and regular maintenance of post-production suites and creative labs, A/V production and studio equipment, and general computer systems.

-  Perform and/or supervise facilities maintenance.

-  Deliver or supervise full-time technical support for all equipment, suites and studio.

-  Research technical developments and determine members' present and future technical needs.

-  Train and supervise support staff, volunteers and/or interns.

-  Perform and supervise the in-house dubbing service and DVD/BluRay authoring.

-  Coordinate with all other departments regarding all technical and facilities aspects.

 

Administrative:

-  Manage all aspects of the administration of the department including financial budgets, grant-writing assistance, technical support training programs, and facilities access.

-  Represent the Production + Technical Department in the VIVO Management Collective.

-  Provide an effective interface with VIVO’s membership, technical staff and volunteers and community groups.

-  Work with support technicians and the equipment committee to meet departmental goals, and with other members of the collective in terms of new and ongoing initiatives.

-  Assist with collective tasks and projects as they arise. Assist in programming and public education coordination.

Qualifications: 

-  Excellent knowledge of analogue and digital audio and video production and post-production formats, systems and set-ups, including format transfers/dubbing.

-  Strong knowledge of analogue and digital A/V presentation equipment and installation.

-  Strong knowledge of live sound, lighting, projection, and media art installation and performance.

-  Good understanding of computer networking and maintenance.

-  Excellent organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills.

-  Personal commitment to some form of creative cultural practice.

-  Experience working with artist-run centres, collectives or community based organizations.

-  Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, with an ability to organize day to day operations, set and meet deadlines, work will under pressure and exercise sound judgment in setting priorities.

-  Proficient in OSX computing environment, including Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Filemaker Pro etc. (or demonstrate ability to learn software quickly).

Remuneration: 

Salary: 28 Hours/week - $24,752 per annum + 7 weeks paid vacation (not including events)
