Vancouver Roundhouse Story Project: Community Story Coordinator

The Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre is excited to tell the “ big” Roundhouse story through gathering input about it as a leading edge community arts and recreation centre, about its history from its start as a railway roundhouse, its evolving role in the neighbourhood and the process of its transformation. The story will be told in film and other media. Role: Working with a project Steering Committee, the coordinator will manage story collection though a community engagement process. Who this might interest: • community artist • oral historian • historical or heritage writer • someone familiar with film and other media
• Establish the chronology of the RH building & function with assistance from a historian • Coordinate community outreach by issuing an invitation to submit stories and by proactively sourcing and documenting stories • Assist in the development of a data base of archival materials • Organize the input and make recommendations on significant events, themes and roles. • Provide a framework that will serve as the basis for a series of film vignettes and other projects which will illustrate the journey of the Roundhouse and its significance
