VISITOR EXPERIENCE PERSONNEL NEEDED
Two (2) Positions Available: 1 Full-time and 1 Part-time
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, an important Vancouver cultural attraction and award-winning heritage site, invites applications for two vacant positions within the Visitor Experience Team. Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, these persons will carry out all activities associated with the daily front-line duties of the Garden.
The full-time position is 30 to 40 hours per week and the part-time position is 15 to 20 hours per week (possible extension of hours into the fall and winter seasons). Both positions include weekends and some holidays. Evening work may also be required for special events, weddings and musical concerts.
Duties:
- Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of cashier services
- Greet customers with excellent customer service
- Open and/or close the facility, which includes cash-out, bank deposit, reconciliation of daily records, setting/disarming security system, etc.
- Deliver interpretive tours to an international audience
- Assist with set-up, dismantling, and clean-up of special events and weddings
- Perform general on-site maintenance and light housekeeping duties
- Answer general enquiries regarding all aspects of the Garden’s history, activities and events
- Maintain a professional and co-operative relationship with guests, staff, and volunteers
- Other duties as required
- Experience handling cash and credit card payments
- Experience working with the public
- Public speaking
- Must have excellent communication skills (fluent in English), additional languages are an asset
- Experience working well with a wide variety of people
- Ability to deal effectively with emergency situations
- Ability to represent the Garden with a high degree of professionalism and enthusiasm
- Able to work independently, energetically, and dependably
- Must be presentable
- Interest and/or knowledge of Chinese culture and history

Wage: $10.75/hr. plus 4% vacation pay. Both positions are available immediately.
