MediaNet

MediaNet logo

MediaNet was founded on Dec 16th1981 to “promote creative collaboration and mutual support among independent media producers, through networking and the provision of a resource pool of information, contacts, equipment and skills.” (Penelope Joy, founding Director)

MediaNet also hosts presentations and screenings by local and visiting independent video/filmmakers in various genres, aiming to raise awareness of independent Canadian film & video.

MediaNet members include people working in different genres: documentary, experimental and drama; ability levels range from emerging to senior artist. Anyone regardless or age, ability, ethnicity, gender, religion, income or sexual orientation is welcome to access MediaNet. Our services, such as screenings and workshops, are open to the public and directly benefit a wider audience. We co-sponsor exhibitions, and aim to increase the audience in Victoria for contemporary independent Canadian media art work.
