Out On Screen

What began in 1988 as a small film festival has evolved into a year-round multi-faceted queer arts organization with the following core programs:

Vancouver Queer Film Festival

Celebrating the best in independent queer cinema the Vancouver Queer Film Festival is Vancouver's second largest film festival and the largest queer arts event in Western Canada. The Festival hosts a variety of performances, workshops, panels, parties and more, facilitating a unique community space for 11 days each August.

Out in Schools

This youth education program brings independent queer film into BC high schools to initiate discussions with students about school safety, homophobia and bullying. NO HATE film workshops encourage and assist youth to create their first film.

Queer History Project

The Queer History Project aims to produce a lasting body of work that will enable our communities' stories to assume their rightful place in Canadian history. This is accomplished through the commissioning of films and a community driven, interactive website.
