Burnaby Art Gallery Mandate
The Burnaby Art Gallery operates as an art museum, gallery and community forum to explore and advance knowledge, appreciation and understanding of contemporary and historical visual art through exhibition, programming and collection services in traditional and non-traditional contexts and places in and outside the City of Burnaby.

Gallery Interpreters Needed at Burnaby Art Gallery!

Why become a Gallery Interpreter?

Learn about visual arts and art education.
Develop your skills as a leader, speaker and teacher.
Contribute to a wonderful arts experience for students.
Volunteer in a gallery environment


What’s involved?

Commitment to leading one tour per week during a school year (October-May). Tours are 3hrs on a weekday morning or afternoon.

Leading discussion and short activities with up to 15 students, assisting an art instructor with a hands on workshop, and helping with supplies set-up and clean-up.

Attendance at four training orientations through the year to learn the tour content, and two lunches to learn about specific arts education topics and art techniques.


An interest in art and/or education. 
Strong verbal communication skills.
Enjoy working with children, have some experience with school-aged children.
Must have two references and be willing to have a criminal record search.
