Coastal Sound Music Academy
Nov. 21, 2017
Coastal Sound’s mission is to TRANSFORM LIVES and BUILD COMMUNITY, through music. Over the past 28 years, thousands of children, youth and adults have had opportunities to find their voice, to serve as ambassadors and leaders, to connect profoundly with others around the world, to grow as global citizens and artists, and to enrich the cultural fabric this area. Each year it seems, the yearning people have to genuinely connect with others and with their community, grows. Coastal Sound aims to fill this need, and we do it all through the lens of choral music. We say that we aren’t just training musicians- we are nurturing caring, creative and joyful people!
Thanks to the support and generosity of donors to our bursary fund, financial hardship doesn’t have to be a barrier to participation in the choirs. Coastal Sound Music Academy is able to offer top-notch choral programs taught by inspiring, award-winning and nationally recognized music educators.
Thank you for your support!
Volunteer Opportunity Description:
For the seventh year in a row, Coastal Sound Music Academy is excited to manage the Christmas tree lot at IKEA Coquitlam. Through our continued partnership with IKEA, Coastal Sound is able to fund our music education and bursary programs, so that every singer is given the opportunity to develop and share their love of music.
While most of our volunteers are connected to our organization, we know that there are many people living in the Tri-Cities eager to give back to the community and get into the holiday spirit.
Please review our volunteer positions. Anyone 16 and older is welcome to join our volunteer team and sign up for shifts. We understand that your time is valuable and every contribution helps. We thank you so much for support of Coastal Sound Music Academy!
Our tree lot Sales & Service team works on creating the best shopping experience for customers. Volunteers become knowledgeable about different types of trees and assist customers with choosing their trees and facilitating the purchase. Shifts are available in the morning, afternoon and evening, lasting 4-5 hours each. This is a wonderful opportunity to get into the festive spirit, keep busy on your feet, and engage with new people in the community. No experience is necessary!
Volunteers are not responsible for any sales or cash exchange - they simply need to be available to assist customers and answer any questions. Customers first pay for their trees at the IKEA cashiers then present their receipts to our Sales & Service volunteers. After a customer has selected a tree, volunteers mark the receipts so the trees can be taken home. Between assisting customers, volunteers are responsible for managing the lot, including sweeping, stocking displays and keeping the lot in tip top shape.
